Dress Me Up, Dress Me Down

Saturday 29 September 2012

Over the last month or so, I've been buying dresses to fill my wardrobe again (I sold old ones that were too big on ebay).  I love dresses.  They are without a doubt my favourite thing to wear - especially for a night out!  I didn't really do by thinking - oh I need this colour, or one like this because that's in fashion, blah blah blah.  If I seen a dress I liked and tried it on and liked it more - I bought it!

Burgundy Dress - H&M - £3.99 (OFFER* Original Price £12.99)

Purity Organic Skincare - Regenerating Overnight Moisturiser

About a month ago, I was lucky enough to be sent some lovely products from Purity Organic Skincare to try and test.  A few other Beauty Bloggers were sent these products too and I have read many reviews on them.  I haven't even had time to try them all yet, as I didn't want to drastically change my skincare routine - I get breakouts and other skin problems when I do that, because my skin is a menace!

Chanel Le Crayon Khôl Intense Eye Pencil - 69 Clair

Friday 28 September 2012

Usually a nude coloured eyeliner pencil is to make your eyes look bigger but, I already have quite big eyes, so I use mine to make them look brighter.  The waterline of my eye is quite red and using a white eyeliner was always too obvious and fake looking, so I looked for ages to try and find a nude.  I knew that MAC did one and Laura Mercier did, but I found it impossible to get my hands on them, they weren't online, and I couldn't find them at counters either.  Then I found this Chanel one!

Autumn/Winter Jumper/Sweater Haul

Thursday 27 September 2012

This started out as a cumulative haul of all of the clothes I have bought over the last two and a half months which is basically full of clothes I'm going to wear over the Autumn/Winter period.  But, because I've left it so long there was just too many things to put in one post.  I lost a bit of weight since last year so there isn't really anything that fits me that I had already so I've basically had to go for a whole new 'capsule' wardrobe, with things that can be worn together, or with things I already have.  I decided to start with the jumpers I got, because I love them!

My Highstreet/Drugstore Makeup Wishlist

Wednesday 26 September 2012

Hey Lovelies!

I've been thinking a lot recently about how I haven't really used much of highstreet makeup products for a couple of years.  It's not because I'm snobby or that I will only put something that costs more than £20 on my face (...that doesn't sound quite right, but moving on).  If you knew me personally you'd know I'm much closer to slob than snob!

It's basically because I think that for the most part you get what you pay for, and I save up for things that I really want.  Honestly makeup is just about all that I spend my money on.  If you've seen any of my 'outfit of the day' posts, more often than not I'm wearing H&M or Primark, and I don't shop for clothes, accessories or shoes very often.  I am probably the only living female that could care less about shoes.  My one pair of black heels that I wear out all of the time were £20 from New Look and I've had them for almost 4 years! I barely look after my hair either. So anyway that's why most of my makeup posts are about MAC, or my favourite Chanel.

I thought it was about time that I really started to look for the hidden gems in the highstreet, because I know that there is some!  I read plenty of blog posts about highstreet products that people love, and I see them in use by beauty youtubers, so I trust that they are good!

Rouge Dior Nude - 553 Sillage

Tuesday 25 September 2012

Hello Lovelies,

A few posts back, I had my little mini Dior Haul and I bought this lipstick.  I've been absolutely loving it and have worn it most days that I've been wearing makeup.  It's a warm pink, and due to the natural tone of my lip I find it just enhances it making them look a little richer in colour, with a more luxurious moisturised texture.
Rouge Dior Nude Lipstick - £25.00

MAC Eyeshadow - Woodwinked

Monday 24 September 2012

Hello Lovelies!

This is my second MAC eyeshadow post, but I promise I will get through them all eventually!  This colour is from my neutrals palette, and it's one of my all time favourite eyeshadows!

Woodwinked was the first ever MAC eyeshadow I purchased along with Naked Lunch (which there will be a post on soon!).  I bought them individually packaged at first until I decided to get a palette.

Pro Palette Refill - £10.00

I've already significantly hit pan in this eyeshadow and it's my second one of these - that's how much I love it! It is the most gorgeous deep golden bronze.  I love it as a crease colour when I'm going for a lighter eye look.  But it's beautiful as a lid colour for a more dramatic smoky eye.

MAC Powder Blush - Frankly Scarlet

Sunday 23 September 2012

Hello Lovelies!

I own one of the MAC 6 blush palettes so I thought I would go through all the colours I have, similar to how I'm eventually going to work through my two MAC 15 eyeshadow palettes. I only have 5 blushes from MAC at the moment, but really that's only because I can't decide which colour I want to be my 6th!

Pro Palette Refill - £14.50

Frankly Scarlet is one of my favourite blushes. It looks a little bit scary in the pan as it's bright red. A little bit of this goes a long way as it's highly pigmented, so a bonus is that it'll last for ages!

Why Do I Wear Makeup? #Tag

Tuesday 18 September 2012

Hello Lovelies!

I've been a bit MIA over the last week or so, mostly because I've become totally obsessed with watching the TV show Dexter which I'd never seen before.  I've been watching it all day nearly every day! And secondly my skin is misbehaving as I'm trying out some new skin care products to review, and my skin never likes anything straight away.  So I've been having a rest from wearing makeup really.  I thought I'd do this tag though, as I've really enjoyed reading other peoples and watching their youtube videos on it, hope you enjoy!

1. When did you start wearing makeup?

I started wearing makeup when I was 11 years old which is also when I started high school.  I started primary school when I was 4 years old because of when my birthday is so I've always been the "young one".  But I started puberty early which meant that pretty much straight away my problems with my acne started due to hormonal changes.  I never wore a lot at this age, basically just concealer, mascara and lipgloss.  Having an older sister made me more into makeup too I think, because as she was getting into makeup so was I, even though I was younger.  But since then it progressed and sort of snowballed and now I'm obsessed!

OPI Germany Collection - Schnapps Out of It!

Wednesday 12 September 2012

Hello Lovelies!

This is my first ever OPI nail varnish and I have to say that I'm so impressed with it!  I ordered it along with one other OPI and a China Glaze nail varnish which were recommended to me on twitter, but I'll do a post on them once I've had a chance to use them.

I liked a lot of the colours in the Germany Collection but I decided on Schnapps Out of It! because the warm burnt orange colour just screamed Autumn to me, which I'm so excited about because, I prefer Autumn and Winter to Spring and Summer!

I'm Selling Some Dresses on Ebay! *All Items Now Sold*

Tuesday 11 September 2012

Hey Girls!

Just to let you know I'm selling some dresses that have been lying in my wardrobe for a while, and they deserve a night out! Especially because one I've never worn at all, and with the rest I've only worn them once or twice, and now they are too big for me to wear again.  I've put the photos below with links to the items if you would like to check them out.  Unfortunately I'm only shipping to the UK just now as I don't have enough pennies for international delivery on lots of items!

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte - 13 Peach Passion

Monday 10 September 2012

Hi Lovelies!

I recently purchased my first ever YSL lipstick, and I have to say that I found it so difficult to choose a shade!  I would have them all if I could.  But I decided on this one, as I really don't have a similar shade in all of my many lip products.
YSL Rouge Volupte - £23.50

I love the packaging, it looks so chic.  That was one of the reasons I was dying to own one to be honest! This glides on pretty well, but I find I have to really make sure I don't have and dry patches on my lips and that they are well moisturised as it clings to them and settles there.  Although, it doesn't dry my lips out, they just have to be well cared for. I find the texture unusual because it isn't like any other lip product I've used.  It's almost velvety.

Dior Haul

Sunday 9 September 2012

Hello Lovelies!

A couple of weeks ago I was in Glasgow, and I went to have a look at the Dior counter, because I love their makeup but never actually owned any.  I was speaking to one of the girls who works on the counter about how much I love their very famous highlighters, Rose Diamond and Amber Diamond.  I was pretty gutted when she told me they were all sold out and weren't getting them back in as they were going to discontinue them, and then re-launch Amber Diamond, possibly under a different name and design - but this means that the time to get your hands on Rose Diamond is limited because once it's gone, it's gone!  I hope she's wrong, but, anyways!

I went home and scoured the internet to try and find places where it was still in stock, and at the moment they are still both in stock at John Lewis online and Selfridges online (not sure about in store).  I ended up ordering from Selfridges as they had the lipstick I wanted too (John Lewis didn't), so I thought it was a better idea to get them both from the same place.

I decided on Amber Diamond for the highlighter.  Even though this is coming back out at some point, I just gravitated towards this one, I was a bit worried that Pink Diamond wouldn't go well with my complexion.  But if it gets to next month and I've got a bit of spare money and it's still available somewhere I might get it.

Dior Amber Diamond - £32.00

Xen-Tan Dark Lotion

Hello Lovelies!

This is my second Xen-Tan post, my first which you can read here - which is all about the Deep Bronze Luxe.  I completely used two of the Deep Bronze Luxe tubes before I decided to try a different type.  As this is from the dark colour range as opposed to Deep Bronze Luxe which is from the medium colour range.

Thou Has Drank Alcohol, Thou Must Suffer The Hangover...NOT!

Hello Lovelies!

This is hopefully going to be a quick and informative post.  And something I'm sure it will help some people out and ease the suffering from the dreaded hangover.  Now many people do say, "self inflicted wounds" and all of that, but why suffer when you don't need to?

This is something that kind of goes around, low key as a lot of nurses don't want the secret given away - or they themselves don't know!  So I'm actually quite lucky to be privy to this information!

Anyway, lets start at the beginning, with a quick explanation of what alcohol does to your system and what causes the horrendous hangover feeling.  Alcohol is an irritant for your whole system.  It's basically poison.  And with the irritation caused in your stomach it can cause cramps, nausea and vomiting.  Alcohol also as a major dehydration affect on the body, which is where most of the problem comes from the next day - such as feeling woozy or having a thumping headache.  This dehydration affects your skin too, have you ever woke up after a night out with massive dark circles under your eyes that no amount of sleeping all day will shift?; or you wakeup and your skin looks dull and you've developed spots? That's the effects from the alcohol.  It basically makes it through your whole system damaging parts of it along the way.  I wont go down the route of long term effects or liver disease or heart disease in this post - that's a bit too serious for this post, and I'll be here all day, although it is very important to know.

OOTN - Friends 21st Birthday Series - 4

Saturday 8 September 2012

Hello Lovelies!

Just at the very end of August was another of my friends 21st birthdays.  I went to the Scottish Bloggers meetup before I went out for her birthday on the same night, so if you were there you will have seen me wearing this in person!

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine - Boy

Friday 7 September 2012

Hello Lovelies!

In my August monthly favourites post I mentioned that this had been a favourite.  I hope in the photos you can see why.  For me, this is the perfect 'your lips but better' colour.  It looks slightly brown toned in the bullet but once applied it sheers out and looks more pink.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine - 54 BOY - £24.00

August 2012 Favourites

Wednesday 5 September 2012

Hello Lovelies!

Can't quite believe it's September already! I thought I better get a move on and do my favourites post for the month of August so here it is! It'll be the same format as my last favourites post, broken down into categories!

SKINCARE

Body: Superdrug Coconut Oil.  I bought this with the intention of using it in my hair as it is a multi-purpose product, but I wasn't seeing the kind of results I wanted with my hair and it was tricky to use.  You can't feel it when it's in your damp hair but then after I dried it it looked greasy, so I gave up with that!  Then I thought I would try it on my skin.  I use this as a night time moisturiser before I go to bed and wake up with gloriously silky skin! I wouldn't recommend this for day time use though as it does leave and oily residue on the skin for a couple of hours until it sinks in.

A Boob Revolution

Saturday 1 September 2012

Hello Lovelies!

"Studies Suggest that 80% of women in the UK wear the wrong bra size"

Now I don't know about you, but nothing drives me more mental than women wearing the wrong bra size.  I find the saggy, four boob look a bit offensive, and highly distracting.  Now, some people may think that I'm a bit weird or out of order for getting so worked up about other peoples boobs, but I get just as annoyed by companies assumptions of "average" bra size, which in turn results in women wearing the wrong bra size.  I'm sorry but launching a bra range that only goes as small as a 34 back and only goes as big as a D cup is absolutely ludicrous.
